Marree, South Australia
Marree is a town approximately 685KM North of Adelaide, South Australia.
1982,Until Marree had been a large railway hub for the Ghan passenger train and Commonwealth Railways.
In 1980 the Ghan line was replaced and re-laid 200KM west of Marree, and the railway operations at Marree officially closed in 1986.
The town was originally named Hergott Springs, built to support those who worked on the overland telegraph line, Australia’s link to Britain.
